Mother CD

Over the last few years people from all areas of my life have spontaneously given me books, tapes and music which featured the theme of Mary, Mother of Jesus. Friends have invited me to concerts with this theme and told me stories of Mary touching their lives. Thus begins my journey to Mary, the Divine Mother.

She has entered my life at a time when, I believe, we as human and spiritual beings really need her. She is no longer only a person to me but a balance to the Father God I grew up with - the divine feminine energy that exists in the universe. I have written three songs for this CD, and have included one previously written for my own children, all connecting with the theme of Mary as a mother - to her own child and now to me.

Mary supports me as the perfect mother would - unconditional love and acceptance, unconditional belief in my goodness and abilities. I have tried to be this mother to my own children but it helps me to know that Mary is there to fill in the inevitable gaps left by my humanness. With Mary we all have access to the perfect mother.

In my own home I've been singing to my kids at bedtime since they were born and I've tried to capture that sound to some degree with this CD. Their angelic voices can be heard on the song I wrote for them, "Unconditional" (Ben sings the low harmony, Kaley the high one). Recently I had the chance to sing some of the songs from this CD to an over-tired four-year-old nephew. After two songs he looked up at his mom and said, "one more song is going to follow me to sleep." He was asleep before the end of the next song.

May these songs at once follow you to sleep and awaken your spirit.
